  • 3 medium-sized potatoes cut into cubes
  • ½ med savoy cabbage, chopped into cubes
  • 1 tsp salt  (divided)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped

How To Make Savoy Cabbage and Potato Sidedish

  • Put 2 liters of salted water to boil.
  • Add potatoes and cabbage to boiling water.
  • Cook for 10-15 minutes until potatoes can be pierced through with a fork. Do not overcook.
  • Strain the water and save 1-2 cups of water/broth. Put the potato and cabbage mixture in a separate bowl for the time being.
  • Saute onion, garlic, and a pinch of salt for 2 minutes to release the flavors. 
  • Add the cooked potatoes and cabbage to the pot. Add black pepper and paprika. 
  • Mix together and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. 
  • If it appears to dry and sticks to the bottom, add 1 cup of boiled water.
