How To Make Mixed Berry Pie

Ingreidents

For the Filling

  • 2 cups frozen berry mixed fruits
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

For Homemade Pie Crust

  • ½ cup cold butter, shredded to make 1 cup
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 5 tbsp plain yogurt (or vanilla yogurt or sour cream)

Instructions

For the Filling

  • Combine all filling ingredients in a small pot over low heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and leave it to cool. 

For Homemade Pie Crust

  • Mix flour, butter and salt on medium speed.  Add in the sugars. 
  • When the dough begins to crumble, add the yogurt one spoonful at a time. If dough appears too soft, use 4 tbsp of yogurt instead. 
  • Form dough into two balls and place in the fridge. 
  • Roll our first dough and transfer to a pie plate for baking. 
  • Add the pie filling. 
  • Roll out the other dough and cover the pie filling. Pinch the sides with your fingers to join the bottom shell with the top shell. Poke the upper pie shell with a fork. 
  • Mix egg yolk with 1 tsp oil and brush over top of shell.
  • Preheat the oven 360F. 
  • Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
