Making Homemade Bread Rolls

Since our traditional Christmas dinners feature plenty of food with all the fixings, we normally try to keep the lunches light. Instead of preparing more food, we offer cold cuts for making simple sandwiches. This pull-apart handmade bread rolls recipe shaped as a Christmas tree recipe is a thoughtful and unique way of making a simple meal special.

A Make-Shift Christmas Tree Baking Pan

Although you can buy Christmas tree shaped baking pans, we actually made one ourselves using a standard cookie sheet, aluminum foil and parchment paper. You can do the same by first lining the baking sheet with foil and then parchment paper over top. Next, roll the edges of the aluminum foil in to a tree shape. These edges will hold the buns in place while baking.

It’s good to have a variety of baking pans for personalizing recipes throughout the year, such as a heart shaped pan for making delicious apple cinnamon buns for Valentines.

  • ½ cup vegetable oil or canola
  • 1 tsp salt
