Homemade Gravy Recipe from a Roast
Simple steps for making homemade gravy, perfect for smothering over mashed potatoes, roasted meats, or biscuits.

- 1 tbsp flour or 1/2 tbsp corn starch
- 1 cup cold water
- salt and pepper optional
- excess fluids from oven-baked rump roast
Mix 1 tbsp flour with 1 cup water in a bowl until the flour is dissolved. Alternatively, use ½ tbsp of cornstarch with 1 cup water.
Remove excess fluids from the roasting pan and place in a saucepan on the stove.
Combine flour with cold water in a small cup or bowl and mix until flour dissolves fully.
Add the flour mixture and mix all together.
Cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until gravy becomes thick, similar to a pancake batter.
Remove from the stove and pour over the roast.
If needed, add additional salt and pepper to taste.
