Homemade Gravy Recipe from a Roast

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp flour or 1/2 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 cup cold water
  • salt and pepper optional
  • excess fluids from oven-baked rump roast

Instructions

  • Mix 1 tbsp flour with 1 cup water in a bowl until the flour is dissolved. Alternatively, use ½ tbsp of cornstarch with 1 cup water.
  • Remove excess fluids from the roasting pan and place in a saucepan on the stove.
  • Combine flour with cold water in a small cup or bowl and mix until flour dissolves fully.
  • Add the flour mixture and mix all together.
  • Cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until gravy becomes thick, similar to a pancake batter.
  • Remove from the stove and pour over the roast.
  • If needed, add additional salt and pepper to taste.
