Homemade Crispy Chicken Strips Recipe

  • Chicken breast thighs or deboned chicken legs
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 dash of Salt and Pepper
  • Vegetable or Italian seasoning optional
  • 1/2 cup Sunflower or Canola oil


  • To prep the chicken, remove skin and then slice chicken breast in three pieces.
  • Tenderize gently with hammer. Continue with the remaining chicken pieces.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Put aside while preparing the crispy batter.
  • To prepare the batter, mix flour with bread crumbs in a shallow bowl. Beat one egg in a separate shallow bowl.
  • Additionally, you can add vegetable or italian seasoning to the bread crumbs for more flavour.
  • To cook the chicken strips, add about 1/2 cup of Canola or Sunflower oil to a deep frying pan.
  • Set burner to a medium heat.
  • To be sure the oil is ready for frying, sprinkle some bread crumbs in the oil. If the oil sizzles, it's ready for cooking.
  • Working one strip at a time, dip the chicken in egg and then dip into the flour and bread crumbs mixture. From there, carefully place the strip into the hot oil for cooking. Continue with the remaining strips until the pan is full.
  • Fry 4-5 minutes each side.
  • Remove from oil and place onto a paper towel lined plate to drain.
  • Alternatively, you can also make these crispy chicken strips in the oven.
  • Set the oven to 370F.
  • Bake the strips covered for 20 minutes, then uncover and bake another 10 minutes. Flip and bake 10 more minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve chicken strips while hot and enjoy!
